The EnergyMiser™ Hybrid Heating system features a 96% AFUE Two-Stage, Variable-Speed Gas Furnace
packaged along with our most efficient 18 Seer EnergyMiser™
Heat Pump. The EnergyMiser™ Hybrid system takes advantage of both
heating technologies and automatically switches to the one most efficient
for the temperature. When it is chilly, the system operates off electricity,
providing the heat pump’s steady, mellow heat. But when it turns cold, the
hybrid system automatically switches to the gas furnace and its warmer,
toasty air. The result is the ultimate in comfort. Even better, hybrid
systems cost less to operate, because
they use the most efficient technology needed to keep your home warm.
Part 1:
The EnergyMiser 96% AFUE Two-Stage, Variable-Speed Gas Furnace features
our patented, heavy-duty, Heat-Miser™ stainless-steel heat exchanger and
recuperative coil. The next-generation SecureStart™ silicon nitride hot surface
The EnergyMiser Heat Exchanger
ignition system increases reliability. These furnaces are completely assembled
at our factory and run-tested for heating or combination heating/cooling
applications. With a heavy-gauge, reinforced, wrap-around insulated steel
cabinet and durable baked enamel finish, these units can be installed in a
utility room, closet, alcove, basement or attic.

Future energy standards will likely be in place for furnaces in the AFUE, which is how
efficiency is measured for furnaces. The current standard for furnaces is 80%
AFUE, but will likely go to 90% AFUE in the near future.

ComfortMiser Scroll™ compressors are
guaranteed to last a lifetime because they function with fewer moving parts,
and no discharge or intake valves. The scroll design allows several pockets
of gas to be compressed simultaneously providing a smooth, nearly continuous
compression cycle. This enables the ComfortMiser Scroll™ compressor to
operate more smoothly and quietly, with less vibration. Plus it uses
environment friendly R410a refrigerant.
Unlike piston compressors, which generally have 9 parts for every cylinder,
ComfortMiser Scroll™ compressors employ only two identical, concentric
scrolls, one inserted within the other. One scroll remains stationary as the
other orbits around it. This movement draws gas into the compression chamber
and moves it through successively smaller "pockets" formed by the scroll’s
rotation, until it reaches maximum pressure at the center of the chamber.
There, it’s released through a discharge port in the fixed scroll. During
each orbit, several pockets are compressed simultaneously, so operation is
virtually continuous.
With the ComfortMiser™ Scroll compressor, homeowners now
have a better, more efficient way to power their cooling system. Raising
their level of comfort, while
 lowering
their HVAC energy bills. With the unique 67% part-load capacity step,
systems with the ComfortMiser™ maintain precise
temperature levels and lower the relative humidity. This eliminates uneven

 What
is R410a Refrigerant? R-410a is an environmentally friendly,
next-generation refrigerant that is used in the EnergyMiser™ brand air
conditioners and heat pumps. Many refrigerants developed before R-410a
contain chlorine, which is harmful to the ozone layer. R-410a is
chlorine-free and therefore better for the environment. In fact, the Clean
Air Act requires that as of 2010, all new air conditioners in the US must

Part 3:
The EnergyMiser™ Hybrid System Thermostat
reads the outside & inside temperature and
 switches
the system to either the 9600 gas furnace, or the 18 Seer Heat Pump, as
